Google testing ‘top rated’ shopping ads format for “best” searches

Last Updated: March 3, 2017 1

By now we should be used to Google experimenting with its results pages and ad formats, and well, we are, but it doesn’t stop a minor change from creating a frisson of excitement even when only about 0.5% of searchers in a single territory get to see them. The latest variation, as discovered last Friday and brought to my attention by @VikingWagon (probably not her real name, in fact it’s Victoria), is a new way of presenting Google Shopping Ads, ranked by customer ratings. Let’s take a look at the screengrabs, and I’ll try not to be too offended that I discovered @VikingWagon tweeted a certain Barry before me. Hi @Christophe_Rock Have you seen this before? Seems to only show for best/top related queries on mobile. Thanks! pic.twitter.com/Kur963gQEt — Victoria (@VikingWagon) June 10, 2016 This was also replicated by a company called Grade Us. @sewatch@VikingWagon@Christophe_Rock Yep! Same here. pic.twitter.com/b3DEZDvlIu — GradeUs…
